I have done all of the above for pairing, including the home kit and still get the pairing canceled. Help.

I had this problem, until today. I finally took the plunge, called Apple Support, and after an hour or so on the phone the solution was very simple.

In the Watch app on your iPhone, go to General, then Apple ID. In my instance (why this is I do not know as my Apple Watch was paired with my iPhone after being setup using the standard process) I hadn’t signed into my Apple ID. Signing into my Apple ID on the Watch app solved it.
