It depends on where you purchase the iPhone from - If you buy directly from Apple, it will be unlocked for use on any network.


If you buy an iPhone from your carrier, for example, EE or Verizon, then it will be locked to that network. If you purchase an iPhone directly from a carrier, you would need to contact that same carrier at a later date for help unlocking your device. There may be a small charge for this.
