Cochlear Phone Clip Pairing to iMac?

I’ve read through this thread with interest for a family member with a brand new Nucleus 7. There are mentions here about pairing the Cochlear Phone Clip to a Mac, but I haven’t been able to get it paired with an iMac. I can put the Phone Clip into pairing mode, but it never appears in the Bluetooth menu on the iMac, so it doesn’t end up paired. Is there a secret to pairing that device to the iMac? Other Bluetooth devices pair easily. Advice would be gratefully center.

Check with the manufacturer of the Nucleus 7 device to find what Bluetooth specification is being used and also what is required for pairing. It may be that the spec is too new for the older macOS.

To discover the Bluetooth version that your Mac is running, click the Apple  icon > About This Mac > System Report... Then select Bluetooth from the list in the sidebar. Examine the info presented and look for an “LMP Version” entry. On the latest versions of macOS, this displays your Bluetooth version in a nice readable way. For example, “4.0 (0x6)” means you have Bluetooth 4.0, which is LMP version 6.
