how to revert from the grid style tab view in safari
iPhone 12, iOS 15
PLEASE GIVE US BACK THE COMPACT OPTION! I can't see the webpage titles and the swipe to delete the tab function is flawed. Just give us back a compact view and the x to close the tab. We don't all have iPads. PLEASE! I have always had my tabs set a specific way and I am so upset by this. It seems small but seriously, I have a system and this one DOES NOT WORK. I can't keep my tabs in order anymore, I'm closing them when trying to read the titles and I have no idea which one is the most recent. This is truly causing me emotional distress. Please bring it back.

this might br the final straw to switch to androind for me. My iphone is soon to be replaced with better phone.
You should always buy the tool that best meets your needs. No one in this thread has any vested interest in swaying your choice.
You know you can download other browsers from the app store, right?
I just updated to 15.3 and boy do I wish I didn't. This new layout for Safari tabs is horrible and waste so much time, not at all useful. And I also can't put a name in the search bar of my text messages and have it pull up text threads. Who knows what else, still looking at it all! Please make it a choice to bring back the stacked windows in Safari!
I agree. I think the tiles are awful and want to be able to return to the old version. If I have more than 4-6 windows open in Safari I have to hunt around rather than quickly scrolling down. My husband, who has 30 windows open at a time on his old iPhone, has decided he will hold off on getting a new phone until this problem is solved.
It’s very disappointing that this wasn’t properly beta tested by a broad spectrum of age groups. As an older user (been a loyal Apple customer for decades) my eyesight isn’t what it once was even with expensive glasses, so the grid layout is extremely challenging. I’ve given direct feedback to Safari/Apple requesting a reversion to stacked tabs as an option. Let’s hope they listen and have a bit more consideration for their customers who have disabilities in the future.
Good for you. Are you also happy with the new functionality? If so, it would appear that you're the sole person on this entire thread who is. Again, if so, that's great. What I believe most people here want, is the option to revert.
We're all individuals with individual preferences but the vast majority of people that I've spoken to about this were happy with the way things were.
As I said in my original post, I have given my feedback to Safari/Apple (as I'm sure many others have) and hope that it is heard, otherwise I will have to seek an alternative remedy.

Honestly, I never noticed much difference. And yes, people are less likely to post positive feedback than negative so, you're always going to have the threads biased that way. And most people will get used to new, minor changes like this quite quickly and forget things were ever different.

There are lots of other browsers available. Apple is perfectly happy for you to use one of those.
Hello,
I put my address bar back at the top, that change was an unpleasant surprise, I still can’t find anywhere that tells me how to revert to a list tab view rather than thumbnails. Did that get fixed yet?
Cheers.
Still no fix for the old full sized stacked pages view in safari with the new grid tile smaller look. I still can’t use safari this way. I don’t go read microfiche in the library either. It feels the same.

So use a different browser, one that better meets your needs.
Agreed. Here's a link to let the Safari-for-ios developers know your thoughts:
Use this link to file a “suggestion”. What a poor design choice!! Can’t even revert back.

Have you told Apple what you think?
This is not what is being asked about. The grid layout, which is nearly impossible to navigate, is what is being asked about.
agree, hate the thumbnail grid
hate the thumbnail grid view and hate the swipe left right
Please provide option for the original stack view in IOS 14 and earlier
