PLEASE GIVE US BACK THE COMPACT OPTION! I can't see the webpage titles and the swipe to delete the tab function is flawed. Just give us back a compact view and the x to close the tab. We don't all have iPads. PLEASE! I have always had my tabs set a specific way and I am so upset by this. It seems small but seriously, I have a system and this one DOES NOT WORK. I can't keep my tabs in order anymore, I'm closing them when trying to read the titles and I have no idea which one is the most recent. This is truly causing me emotional distress. Please bring it back.

I knew this update was going to suck, but I had no idea the great extent or deep level. Just putting the addressbar on the bottom was a clear indication of the magnificent stupidity that lay ahead. And I knew it would be ugly. And it is. This grid crap is unbelievably disappointing, severely aggravating and a push to another phone. And it IS time for a new phone. It would have been fine as an option but, someone thought this was a *necessary* change. It wasn't. And though I thought resetting the phone and restoring from a backup would work, it didn't. I wiped 5 months of usage off this phone and it still came back... through an restore to the same 15.1 OS. Which is reason enough to hate everyone this morning. I'm sure I'll get over it all... but I'm looking at Android phones now to see if they might be worthy. If my choices aren't important to apple, apple can't be all that important to me.

Agreed! This new grid style is hard to navigate, hard to see, hard to use! I can't imagine why they wouldn't give the option to change this feature! Why should I have to change how I navigate my safari just because Apple wants to make useless aesthetic choices? I need the singular card layout again and I know that other people feel the same way!

Get on it Apple!

I absolutly hate the new tab grid. Its horrible! I had a perfect setup with my tabs, how I liked to have them. Now I can’t read what all the tabs are, and I have to go to all of them to find the right one! This is so annoying! Apple you really need to let us users be able to choose for ourselves what we want. I can see that this could be usable with an ipad, but not the small phone. I have good eyesight, but I can not read that small of text.

Please give us the option to change back to how the tabs looked before!! It was so easy and organized!

I couldn’t deal. I deleted tabs I had saved for ages and restored my phone to 6 months ago thinking it would at least bring me back to 14. It didn’t. I was filled with angst and anger especially since I know better than to update or make changes without a solid backup!!! Still, I didn’t take a ball peen hammer to my phone or any other apple products as I was sincerely compelled to and, instead dropped apple pay as a alternative and installed Opera for tabs. Safari is FB only from now on! 1 page forever.

I agree. This new layout is bad. It’s too small to read (I’m over 60) and totally impractical. Whoever designed it is stuck in the realms of impracticality. The fact there is no option to revert to the more practical style I am left with two options. 1/ until I get a new contract I will stop using safari and use duck duck go browser. 2/ stop using apple and revert to android. Decision made. As Apple are dictatorial and do NOT listen to the community who use their products. Unless there is an option to revert, Bye bye safari. Bye bye Apple.

My iPhone 8 just updated to ios15.1. I am disappointed with Safari tab change. I find the thumbnail /grid view useless apparently these are meant to be previews but words are too small to read.

Supposedly they can be grouped but I don’t find instructions other than “put them all in a group” or “start a new group”.

There are plenty of complaints posted in community, and elsewhere” but I don’t find solutions, fixes, or how to revert.

Disappointed and getting disgusted.

This is one of the many EXACT reason I decline updates. I know it’s not Apple’s fault necessarily. Perhaps it would be possible (provided there is enough space on the users device) to allow us to download a “demo” of the update. One we could apply to our own content. Of course this would require space on the device for updated information to be saved to and I know it’s a logistical nightmare. Even things like the way the map looks all cartoon like bother me.

sorry for the rant.

This grid view is so terrible that it freezes Safari if I try to move a tab, and I have an 11 Pro! If your new interface is so bad that it physically can’t work properly on your devices only 2 generations old (most people keep phones an average of 3 years) than it’s probably just terrible. My theory here though is that it’s time to jump back to android as far as cellphones go. Apple is too concerned with their IPad and Mac users who are the cash cows anyways. Every broke person has a phone, it’s usually only people with money that have iPads and Macs and it’s obvious that’s the people they care about with this update that’s screws phone users.

I wonder if Samsung offers list view as an option. Not smart to force users into an unintuitive multi-step UX. This is not what the company is known for. Bad move and business WILL be lost over poor design choices forced upon users. At the end of the day, simple streamlined functionality is what sets iPhones apart. Adding an extra step is inefficient and cumbersome.

Nobody is happy. DO BETTER!

I agree with this. Also would like to add that I have 36 tabs open and when I try to close them one by one, it creates a dizzying effect that makes it hard for me to do. I also didn’t love the previous way since the tabs would also move after I closed one, but I’d rather have the old way. I really wish Apply would bring in like teenagers or people that could give ideas and feedback… I mean there are so many things wrong with ergonomics and such… that some things should be changed and other things shouldn’t.

Yes please, either revert to stacked tab display or give the option to do so. Grid view is horrible on phones, I even dislike it on pads. It’s actually one of the reasons I switched from android to iOS. They even started to group them according to their presumed relationship, and that annoyed me a lot. I have no interest at all in grouping them.

This grid style is very bad. Many news articles expires or change their links quickly and this grid style does not allow me to see the full name of the website and when the posters change the link I'm totally unable to type in the name of the articles again since I don't even know what this "page no longer exist"

website was about! Please address this design flaw immediately.
