Hi Zeick671,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you would like to change the Safari Tab view and we're happy to help!

At this time you can only change the Safari Tab Bar layout.

"You can choose between the top Single Tab you’re used to and the new bottom Tab Bar layout.

  1. Go to Settings  > Safari, then scroll down to Tabs.
  2. Select either the Compact Tab Bar or Separate Tab Bar layout.
  3. You can move between layouts without losing the tabs you have open."

It’s garbage that you guys are forcing us to use a grid style instead of giving your CUSTOMERS the option to choose the style they want. To me the grid style has a time and a place and it most certainly is not the way you have used it. The grid style makes it difficult to properly find the right tab as you can’t see the website name in its entirety. It doesn’t help that it basically makes the text microscopic.

Instead of arbitrarily changing to something that was designed for a much larger screen, as you have already stated in your reason for implementing it. You should have properly made it variable like every other system. Even PC knows that a grid style only works for photos, as there is no text in the image and you judge what it’s content is by the preview of the photo that is displayed.

Do you realize how difficulty it is to judge a bunch of websites with what is a general a common website layout and text the size of an ant on a screen that is just a little bigger than your palm.

The effectiveness of a grid style lies in the fact that the content is a photo or an image without any text for the user to quickly and easily discern content.

I hope you can understand how nonsensical it was to force a change that cannot be undone.

If I knew this would happen when I had the option update to IOS 15 or the last 14, I would have stayed with 14.

PLEASE GIVE US BACK THE COMPACT OPTION! I can't see the webpage titles and the swipe to delete the tab function is flawed. Just give us back a compact view and the x to close the tab. We don't all have iPads. PLEASE! I have always had my tabs set a specific way and I am so upset by this. It seems small but seriously, I have a system and this one DOES NOT WORK. I can't keep my tabs in order anymore, I'm closing them when trying to read the titles and I have no idea which one is the most recent. This is truly causing me emotional distress. Please bring it back.

I knew this update was going to suck, but I had no idea the great extent or deep level. Just putting the addressbar on the bottom was a clear indication of the magnificent stupidity that lay ahead. And I knew it would be ugly. And it is. This grid crap is unbelievably disappointing, severely aggravating and a push to another phone. And it IS time for a new phone. It would have been fine as an option but, someone thought this was a *necessary* change. It wasn't. And though I thought resetting the phone and restoring from a backup would work, it didn't. I wiped 5 months of usage off this phone and it still came back... through an restore to the same 15.1 OS. Which is reason enough to hate everyone this morning. I'm sure I'll get over it all... but I'm looking at Android phones now to see if they might be worthy. If my choices aren't important to apple, apple can't be all that important to me.

Agreed! This new grid style is hard to navigate, hard to see, hard to use! I can't imagine why they wouldn't give the option to change this feature! Why should I have to change how I navigate my safari just because Apple wants to make useless aesthetic choices? I need the singular card layout again and I know that other people feel the same way!

Get on it Apple!
