iOS 15 - Focus mode issue

Hi all!

Has anyone noticed this issue with focus mode?:

My focus mode automatically turns on every night at 10 a.m. and turns off at 7 a.m. But my friends told me that iMessage still shows that I mute notifications throughout the day. The notifications don’t go silent, but it’s pretty annoying because others may think I’m not available.

I use this feature as the "do not disturb" mode at night, like before.

I was having this same issue. Thanks for the tip! My MacBook automatically set to do not disturb "When mirroring to TVs and projectors". I use a monitor all day for work so it was put into do not disturb across all my devices whenever I used my monitor, but it did not show the moon icon in the upright corner. I only found out because friends said they were getting the silenced message on iMessage. Anyway, this was easy to adjust in System Preferences -> Notifications -> Do Not Disturb.

Hello Adam014,

We're happy to help you out in Apple Support Communities.

If we understand, the Do Not Disturb settings work fine overnight, and the next day you receive messages as usual. But those that contact you during the day are getting a message you are still not available.

Take a look at the article Turn a Focus on or off on iPhone and if you have a sleep schedule set up, see Add or change sleep schedules in health on iPhone. You want to make sure nothing changed after upgrading to iOS 15. You may also want to try deleting your sleep schedule and set it back up again.

If you still need help, reach back out.

Have a great day!

Dear Matthew!

Thank You for your reply. :) Yes, you understood well.

In the meantime, I also checked the settings on my other devices (iPad with iOS 15, MacBook with BigSur). In the settings under focus mode the “Sharing between devices” is turned on on both the iPhone and iPad. The time interval is set the same on all devices. BUT! It was activated on the Mac that the “do not disturb” mode would turn on even when the screen was locked. Maybe the mac activated the focus mode and that’s why my contacts have seen the message that i have notifications silenced. (But the moon icon was not displayed on my devices.)

The issue I'm having with Focus is that it turns on but won't turn off despite that schedule I have setup to share across devices (I have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and Apple watch). You have to turn the "Share Across Devices" feature off on all devices to avoid this issue because my devices don't always communicate to each other (yes, I reset them often). Also, even though I do not have Focus set to activate when I'm "busy" (I am retired) it seems to turn on, so I have turned deleted or disabled the work and personal Focus settings. These issues are very annoying and I prefer the old "Do not Disturb" settings instead.
