New Music Mix has gone very weird?

I've not been able to find an answer to this elsewhere on the internet so i've come here. My 'New Music Mix' on Apple Music has gone absolutely off the rails in the last few weeks. The playlist has gone from relatively reliable if not sometimes pretty predictable (and not as interesting as Spotify unfortunately), to just plain awful. Like, really, really dreadful.

If i look at my 'recently played' tab it includes the likes of Alice Coltrane, Deerhoof, Haruomi Hosono, Tirzah etc, and if i listen to my station it continues to play through this kind of stuff. Yet my 'New Music Mix' is full of things that could not be further from my whole library (Lil Nas X and LILHUDDY for example!). I understand listing artists is only helpful if you're familiar with them, so instead just imagine a playlist which includes music that is the complete opposite to what you listen to and already exists in your library. This has happened over the past three releases of the mix and i'm lost as to how Apple Music thinks this is "new music from artists we think you'll like".

The only thing that has changed is that i've recently started playing some rain sounds overnight to help me sleep. It's a three minute track, and i probably play it on repeat for maybe 7 hours. Could this really have screwed up the algorithm to such an extent? It would make some sense if my mixes were full of rain and sleep sounds... but they're not (in fact, there is literally nothing on these mixes you'd want to listen to as you sleep).

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything i can do to fix this? While the playlist was perhaps not as good as Spotify's, i still enjoyed listening each Friday. It's now un-listenable. Whatever has happened has also impacted my 'Chill Mix', which is now equally awful. It's very disappointing.
