Hello, samos3.

Email messages that have been copied and stored in the mailboxes listed as "On My Mac" are located in the (usually hidden) user Library folder at ~/Library/Mail. You can get there by option-clicking the Finder > Go menu, or in Finder by pressing ⇧⌘L (Shift-Command-L).

Navigate directly to ~/Library/Mail folder, then Enter Time Machine by clicking the menu bar icon. Now you can navigate the Time Machine interface and restore your email folders and files. Good luck discovering which sub folders correspond to which mailboxes and emails, though, because the folders are not easily identifiable, having cryptic names like "V2", "V7" or "46E99DEE-4082-4281-A197-AC7D432E4DCC".

You can no longer restore individual emails from TM as in the past. You cannot just go back in time and find a specific email easily. You can find an entire mailbox and restore the whole file. The files are in your user/library/mail/V8 directory. You may want to look at another program like MailBackupX to use in the future.
