My son recently bought a new Mac Pro and air dropped his files from his old one. He then deleted the files from his old machine and also emptied the waste basket in order to free up space.

when he went back to his new laptop all the files were missing.

is there a way of retrieving the lost files?

CAN I RESTORE FILES FROM FORMATTED MAC PRO 13 hello, my laptop got stolen and somehow I recuperated it as it was found on the street. apparently the people who stole it re-formatted it and deleted all my files. the company I work for does back up for emails, and files on our company servers. but all the files on my desktop have been deleted. also unfortunately my iCloud storage has been full since a few months back and I couldn't back up on iCloud. I am inquiring if I can retrieve my lost files in any way possible. thanks

Copy files from broken Macbook Pro I had two old devices: iMac 2009 & Macbook Pro 2009 Hardware issues: iMac: startup failure Macbook Pro: battery My plans: Take both devices for recycling programme on third parties. Before this, planning to ask to paid a third party service provider to copy my files from both devices to an external and to wipe off hard drives on both devices before sending to recycling programme. Questions: Do I need to proceeding these steps actually? What is your best suggestion on solving this worry - avoid other people to seen files via local hard drive on both devices? Hi,

I think you can't, though if you or your son have backup, TimeMachine backup, you can restore from it.
