Audio drop out on ATV 4k

I know a similar issue was discussed here a few years ago, but the audio from my ATV 4k invariably drops out totally when changing streaming programs or from Apple TV+ to say Apple Music.

The only fix is to remove and replace the HDMI cable at the ATV. The cable goes to my TV screen then out via digital coax through toslink converter and optical to my old HK receiver which has no HDMI inputs.

Problem did not happen until I replaced the old 2nd gen ATV with the 4k. Annoying to say the least.

suggestions welcome from the community or Apple. Thanks.

For output over optical, you may need to change the audio format on Apple TV from Auto (PCM Multichannel) to one of the fallback formats: Dolby Digital 5.1 or Stereo.

· Unplug Modem from it’s power source for 2-3 minutes and then plug it back in.

· Unplug Router from it’s power source for 2-3 minutes and then plug it back in.

· Unplug Apple TV from it’s power source for 2-3 minutes and then plug it back in and retest the system.

I’m having this exact problem and I’m only using my tv speakers. Have to take hdmi cable out and put back in, sometimes that doesn’t work and sometimes a restart makes it worse.
