FaceID Issues on iPhone13 Pro

My new iPhone 13 Pro is not working properly (or as promised) with FaceID.

  1. When I wear cosmetic makeup, my FaceID no longer recognizes me or unlocks my phone. I had to set up an alternate FaceID for it to work while wearing makeup.
  2. When I am wearing my glasses (in lieu of contact lenses) FaceID no longer recognizes me or unlocks my phone. Unfortunately, I’ve already used up my alternative FaceID on my phone to make it work with makeup.

Is this an issue anyone else has experienced? Is there something wrong with my phone? Everything I’ve read shows that FaceID works just fine with both glasses and makeup. There are articles that even tout that it works with sunglasses and can even operate with a face mask. I’m finding that my phone is failing to live up to these promises. Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

We understand you're having trouble with Face ID. First, take a look over the steps in the below article.


If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro


. The behavior you're experiencing sounds like it could be the result of a poor initial scan. Have you tried to reset Face ID and completing the setup again? This, as well as adding an alternative appearance, may help to improve accuracy.


Also be sure nothing is covering the TrueDepth camera sensors, and that the display near the camera is clean and free of smudges. If you continue to experience issues, follow the link within the above article to contact Apple Support.
