Activity rings fireworks not showing

After watchOS 8 and iOS 15, my fireworks animation stopped working. iOS 15.0.1 didn’t fixed that.

When I close rings i don’t receive them. What am I missing?

I searched this issue for weeks. I found today that in the watch app on my iPhone that the wrist detection was off. This can be found in the watch app > passcode > then toggle on the wrist detection. I never turned it off and can only guess that it happened during on of the updates. As soon as I entered the Passcode on my watch and toggled it on, I got my first activity notification I’ve been missing for months now. Good luck

I had the same problem and this fixed it: In the watch app on your phone, go to Notifications and turn OFF "Tap to Show Full Notification". Turning that setting off will also allow you to read messages and other notifications on your watch without having to tap on them first which is the way it used to work before the OS upgrades.

Try checking your Do Not Disturb settings and Focus settings. SETTINGS..FOCUS..DO NOT DISTURB. If it is one say during the night, then allow certain apps to Allow Notifications. I had a 9:00PM to 8:00 AM do not disturb set and I often finish my rings after 9PM. So I think this might have something to do with it. Also, if your iCloud account is hooked up I you turn on DO NOT DISTURB on your iPad, Mac this my do it account wide. So set Activity, Heartrate and other apps to be allowed to notify.

That's just it though @fieryjack, there's is no haptic; also no sound, no animation, nothing in Notification Centre... literally no notification! It's something that used to work reliably before the watchOS 8 update, so yes it does need fixed. It might well be it's working for you, I don't believe everyone's affected, but it's certainly not an isolated case either. I've got faith it'll get sorted in the next update, but right now despite a lot of improvements (particularly on the Watch) I'd say watchOS 8 / iOS 15 is one of Apple's buggiest releases.

I'm also seeing the same behaviour, and from what I've read on Apple Discussions and other forums it's not uncommon after upgrading to iOS 15 / watchOS 8. Most other notifications are coming through fine (including stand notifications, award progress, coaching), but I'm not getting goal completion notifications or animations for closing the individual rings, nor the fourth for closing all three in a day. All notification options remain turned on (including 'Goal completions') and I've tried toggling the settings back and forth, and device restarts but to no effect. Hopefully 8.1 will fix!

Agreed, NYC718, I either get all of the notifications during a day or none of them. It also seems to me that I'm less likely to get the fireworks/notification on days when I complete the exercise ring during a workout. So on days when I don't record a workout (or do but not enough to close the exercise ring) I seem to get all the fireworks and notifications just fine.

I have the same issue with watch OS 8.4.2 and iOS15.3.1. I've adjusted all the Focus settings and turned Focus off. "Tap to Show Full Notification" is off. I've powered watch and phone off and on multiple times. I even tried wearing my older Apple Watch running watch OS 6.3 for a day and I don't get the fireworks on it either. It seems to be something with iOS 15 but I can't figure out what setting. I've been able to get the fireworks for maybe a day or two after I unpair and repair, although I haven't tried setting up as new. I'll try that this weekend. Any other suggestions?

Seeing the same thing on my Series 3 ever since updating to watchOS 8 . Whats weird about this bug is that on some days I get the goal completion notifications just fine but on other days I don't get them at all. Tried unpairing and repairing and it seemed to work for a few days but then it started being unreliable again. I get all other notifications with no problems, including my daily move streak.
