Grey border iMessage
There's been an occasional gray border around the iMessage icon since iOS15. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

Hey there,
We appreciate you reaching out on Apple Support Communities. From your post, it looks like iMessage has a grey box around it, and you’d like more information. We’d be happy to take a look!
To get started, are you using an external keyboard with your iPad? We ask, as this may occur when using keyboard shortcuts to select options on screen. You can read more about that under "Control iPad with an external keyboard" at: Adjust the onscreen and external keyboard settings on iPad - Apple Support
If not, do you use any Accessibility features with your iPad? To check you can go to Settings > Accessibility.
Also, let us know when you see this occur. For example, does it occur after performing a specific task or when using a certain feature? Is this occurring on all devices, or just your iPad?
Cheers!

This is how i solve the problem : With my ipad connect to my Magic Keyboard, I drag the Messages icon out of the dock et return it after and the gray border disappeared.
Paul-Emile, how in the world did you figure this out?!?! It worked for me!!! This has been bothering me since the upgrade and I couldn’t find anywhere where this was being talked about!
Thanks!
One more if you don’t mind…how to I turn off the feature in Safari that show the active tabs when I open Safari?
Hi ManJor, thank you for your help. The grey border is coming when my Smart Folio is connect with the iPad. But only when it is in the dock. And only by the iMessage app. I can’t find any setting to put this on or off. I don’t use accessibility.
We appreciate the update!
With the Smart Folio keyboard connected, if you use the steps in the article we previously provided, are you able to move the box or does similar behavior occur? This can help us to rule out whether the keyboard may be contributing to the behavior.
Have a lovely day!
This problem is still not solved after following your instructions. Please advise. I have the Apple folio also with my 12.9” IPad Pro M1.
Great. Thank you I will try that!
