Unable to Activate - iPhone 7

Hello!

Maybe I have typical complaint but my girlfriend used her Iphone as always (correctly and carefully). A few days ago, she put it on the table in the middle of the day, and the phone started restarting several times until the battery was died. After the phone was fully charged, the sim card reader stopped working. I tried different variants of what googles were available for and last time I also tried full system restore.

So what happened? At the time of fully reseting, I got the message "unable to activate". I contacted a local dealer in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria who said that they could do nothing but replace the motherboard which would cost 300+ euros. However, the motherboard needs to be replaced because something happened inside it and as it turned out this phone is not the first, am I right? The phone itself cost right now 100+ euros in the market. So the repairing is not best idea...

This is an iPhone7 32GB Gold Rose

Since the phone was nicely kept then this error cannot be in any way related to the customer (my girlfriend) but the product was incorrect. Now it would be necessary to find out what my girlfriend can do with it, because she would need a phone and go to buy a new one, which can cause the same mistake - it don't sounds good.

It turned out that there is no official shop on Gran Canaria, so I turn to you to find out what to do next. I hope that you can find a reasonable solution in the near future and do something with the phone.

Thank you for understanding

OK I misunderstood - the 100 euros was your valuation not what she paid!

It is not feasible to replace a motherboard. Only fakes would be available to a third party repair shop, and Apple would replace the phone for almost the cost of an SE2020.

"...Since the phone was nicely kept then this error cannot be in any way related to the customer (my girlfriend) but the product was incorrect...." All electronic equipment can fail all by itself but this phone is way out of warranty.

This phone appears from the store guy's diagnosis to be irreparable both from a technical and from an economical perspective. Buying new SE2020 and waving goodbye to any un-backed-up data is the way forward.

However reach out to Apple Support directly to look at options. Depending on your region, you may be able to reach them here:contact Apple Support

The phone cost €100 in the market?

I think now you know why it was so cheap.

The inability to read the SIM would prevent activation but the total spontaneous reset suggests serious hardware fail or jailbreak.

Time to limit her losses and recycle it in favour of a new phone. Get a new one through a network provider if you don't have the cash.

I wanted to say that replacing the motherboard is not a rational decision right now. At the moment, it is possible to buy a used phone in good condition, with the price starting at 100€. However, she don’t want to do this immediately because there is no guarantee that this same error will not happen again.

However, this phone was purchased from an official Apple Store. That's why I contacted you to find out what to do next. When a customer buys a product that crashes for some unknown reason, does she have to buy a new one again? Or maybe at first they try to check the product and offer a replacement.

Otherwise, I'm afraid for my own apple products if something suddenly happens to them.
