Safari browser window changing color according to web page

I've just updated to Safari Version 15.0 (16612.1.29.41.4, 16612) and now the top portion of the window (with address bar, tab bar, favorites bar) changes its color scheme to match the background color of the web page opened. How do I make this stop?

Examples:

Usually that upper section has a white background (or at least very pale. whatever the default is).

When I open the following page, it all goes yellow:

https://www.duden.de

And with this one, it goes blue:

https://www.powerthesaurus.org

For the page I'm on now, posting this, that section now has a black background.

And there are others as well. It's annoying – sometimes quite ugly – and it's distracting when I'm working.

I hope there's a way to deactivate this dreadful "feature"!

Hello Eve329,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, you want to know how to prevent the use of the color of the website as the background for tabs. We'd like to help!

In the Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Tabs. Then turn off Show color in tab bar.
