I want to watch movies that exceed 4 gb, which means exfat wouldn’t work for me. NTFS - you need to do a lot of potentially compromising moves. Any ideas, upgrades I could do on my TV? Since Apple usually is not flexible for their customers’ use of different brands combined.

It is FAT32, not ExFAT that has the single 4GB file restriction. You can format drives in ExFAT with Disk Utility. There is nothing you can do to your TV as that is controlled by the TV firmware provided by the vendor. But, you can read the TV manual about the USB drive formatting that it does support. Very likely it will support FAT32, and maybe ExFAT is supported. It won't support Apple filesystems and stay away from NTFS

You don't mention your TV's specific model, so it's hard to tell you specifically, however it's likely that the TV supports both FAT32 and ExFAT filesystems on USB drives.
While FAT32 does have a 4GB file size limit, ExFAT supports up to 16 EB (larger than any currently available drive).
ExFAT may be your path forward.
I can't see Samsung supporting Apple's Extended file format any time soon.
If you have a Samsung smart TV and want to watch Apple TV, that is normally set up in the TV itself. It is a bit complex, but that is how it is done. Check your Samsung manual for help. Also, it has to be connected to the internet either via an Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi, which is the default option.
No, it’s more of a hardware formatting problem. I have an usb card, that formatted in “OS x Extended” cause it can go beyond 4 gb per file rather than multifunctional ExFAT.
