I accidentally clicked on a link (whatsapp link) from a text message that opens my whatsapp app. is my phone at risk now?

i got a message saying i got overcharged over something i bought recently. in that text, it also has a link for a whatsapp number which i accidentally clicked on it. very fishy whatsapp account too. i replied to the text asking from which shops but got no reply. is my phone at risk now?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

We appreciate you reaching out on Apple Support Communities. From our understanding, after clicking on a link, you wanted to be sure your data remains safe. We can certainly understand your concern and would be happy to help out.


As long as you did not enter any personal information after clicking on the link, then your data and iPhone are safe. If you did enter any information, we’d recommend reaching out to any locations that use that information for login, as a password, etc. You’ll want to change or update that information with them.


For Apple specifically, you’d want to follow the steps here: If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support


To see all devices that are logged into your Apple ID, check out: See and remove your devices that are associated with Apple ID purchases - Apple Support
