Upload failed album appeared on iPhone

A few days ago I started using iCloud photos on my iPhone and Mac. Today I noticed a new album had been automatically created on my iPhone called “upload failed” in the “other” section (where hidden and recently deleted albums are located).

All the photos in this album have a warning icon (a yellow exclamation mark inside a cloud in place of the normal grey cloud icon) in the info section.

Is there a way to try to upload them again? I couldn’t find anything related to this problem on the internet apart from some questions regarding an “upload failed” album on macs but not iPhones.

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Hello Oee_eeO,

We see that you need help with iCloud Photos. Set up and use iCloud Photos

There are a few reasons this can happen, we’ll cover them below.

Do you have Low Power Mode enabled? Low Power Mode can pause iCloud Photos. Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone.

Are you connected to the internet with either Wi-Fi or cellular data?

Do you have enough iCloud storage available? Manage your iCloud storage

Does restarting your iPhone resolve the issue? Restart your iPhone

Cheers!

Hi judysigs,

thank you very much for your answer! I checked all the reasons you suggested:

  • I don't have low power mode enabled, I rarely use it
  • I'm connected to the internet via Wi-Fi
  • I'm sure I have enough iCloud storage available (over 80 GB of available storage)
  • I just tried restarting my iPhone, but the issue is still there

None of this seems to resolve the issue, and weirdly I don't seem to find anybody else on the internet with the same problem. Perhaps it could have something to do with the recently released iOS 15? I'm running 15.0.1. I also thought it could be related to the photos being saved in some weird format, but the upload was successful with photos taken few seconds before/after this group of photos and with the same iPhone, so it should have nothing to do with that.

Hoping that it can help, here are some screenshots:
