iPhone keeps connecting to random wifi, when I DONT want it to. Poor performance.

So this may be a settings issue, but whenever I leave my home and am away from my home wifi, my iPhone will randomly try to connect to wifi networks wherever i am. It most often time is either a super weak connection or trying to connect to password-protected wifi. And when I need my data, I always have to go into the settings and switch wifi OFF to get my performance back.

Is there a way to turn this off. It's super annoying...and I usually forget to turn wifi back on when I'm home, so I'm using data when I could be using wifi.

Try Settings, Wifi, Ask to join networks, set to "Ask"

Also any networks listed or with generic names set the info panel (i) to turn off Auto-Join

Like the first man said switch to ask and one more thing you might want to switch off data when in the streets or leaving house to save your data from high bill you’ll be WiFi data which cost nothing. I do it when I don’t forget it works for me but sometimes it might not work if it stops then shut off WiFi and data and on aga

in and shut off data.
