On restart Safari reopened Windows are empty

Hi everybody,

I recently switched to Safari and have a strange bug. After I restart my MacBook, Safari reopens its last opened windows, but they are empty. The count of reopened windows is correct, but no website is opened, and no tabs are included. The windows are empty showing the start page. Sometimes one website is opened, but never all.

When I close Safari and reopen it, the correct state is restored. This just happens when I restart the MacBook.

When I use History > Reopen All Windows from Last Session, sometimes a few windows are reopened.

I tried already to delete the savedState and played around with settings, but no luck.

OS: 11.6

Safari: 15.0

Anybody has experienced that or has some idea for a solution?

Thanks in advance

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.6

Hello norrix23,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like Safari is not reopening items from history. We'll do what what we can to help.

Since this only happens during a restart, this might be happening from items as the Mac starts up. Try starting in safe mode and reopening the session again to see if the same thing happens: Start up your Mac in safe mode

If you have any apps that are in your Login items that control Safari in some way, make sure they are removed: Remove login items to resolve startup problems on your Mac

Thanks, and enjoy your day!
