I’m a swimming teacher so can be in the pool up to 4 hours at a time , I have an Apple Watch SE is it safe / advisable to wear my watch in the pool for this amount of time please ?

IMHO, it may be safe, but I wouldn't say it is advisable. Understand that your Apple Watch is water resistant, but not waterproof. Water resistance isn't a permanent condition and may diminish over time. Apple Watch can't be rechecked or resealed for water resistance.
