Hello Srijiet,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, your new iPhone 12 mini is having issues with temperature. We'll do our best to assist.

Given the information in your post, you got the iPhone yesterday or at least a day or so ago. Did you restore from iCloud by chance? If so, it still may be in the process of restoring your data. Which might cause the device to warm up unexpectedly while in use or charging. We'd recommend connecting it to a known good working Wi-Fi network and the charger until it completes that restore process.

With that said, have you noticed any temperature related alerts? Like the ones explained here: Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures If so, this resource will cover when to be concerned.

If you're at all unsatisfied with your device and experience, seeing as you just purchased this, you have the option to return/exchange it within 14 days if purchased by Apple directly. In case it was purchased through a Reseller, then you'd want to contact them to discuss their return/exchange policy.

Hoping this helps out.

We wish you well, cheers.
