My iPhone 13 Pro will not connect to WiFi

It shows it’s connected in settings, but doesn’t display the wifi symbol at the top of my screen, and when I try to open certain apps, it says I’m not connected to wifi. I’ve tried EVERYTHING on the troubleshooting list!

Help!

I had this exact problem - both on my Iphone 8 and my new Iphone 13.

It was one of the reasons I upgraded my phone - because I thought the 8 was messed up.

Looks like the VPN settings from my 8 were transferred to my IPHone 13.

Found that VPN's were enabled on my IPhone 13.

Went to Settings, General, VPN & Device Management

Then selected each VPN and deleted it.

That instantly allowed connection to my Wi-Fi - which hadn't worked for one week.

I am having the same issue since I got the iPhone on the release date. I tried so many things, even resetting it to factory settings twice. Sometimes I get home and will not connect. I have to restart the phone and then it might connect. Same at work. All other Apple devices working but not the iPhone 13 pro. The problem goes away then it comes back. I haven't even connected to a VPN with it. I miss my old iPhone. I should not have updated. There are always these problems that take them way too long to fix.

I also have the same problem connecting my iPhone 13 max pro to the Wi-Fi. I can’t get the phone to actually connect to the Wi-Fi. If I turn off the VPN and turn on Airplane Mode and then turn off Airplane Mode the phone will connect for a microsecond and then go to 5 or 4G and not let me download or use the Internet. It is extremely frustrating.

When my iPhone 13 connects for a microsecond it cuts off my wife’s iPhone 13 pro from the Internet. As such we both end up without a connection. That makes it doubly frustrating. Still looking for a solution. Any suggestions?

Similar issue, when I come back home it’s not seeing my home Wi-Fi ( and any other Wi-Fi networks within range) when I turn off and and turn on Wi-Fi in settings it automatically connects to my home network and other networks also become visible. But next day it happens again 🤬

Very frustrated with bugs on new iPhone, first Car Play was cruishing, now this thing when it uses my cellular at home, should never buy new phone right away.

I didn’t copy a Wikipedia page, I linked an essay on VPN from Github and I am the original author of the rest of the content. But the problem is that you copied a VPN app from another phone, along with its settings for the other phone, which in general will not be compatible with the new phone. The app probably works fine when used as intended by the developer, and would probably work fine on the new phone if you installed it as a new app and let it determine the correct settings for the new phone. Apparently it worked on the old phone, or you would have noticed the problem on that phone. And Apple does not guarantee that apps work on any specific phone or that they even work; Apple checks them for violations of Apples interface standards and for spyware and other malware. The rest is up to you to read the reviews. Of the 2 million apps in the app store there are many that some people consider useless; Apple does not make a value judgement about how good or useful the apps in the app store are. That’s up to the user. If Apple did make value judgements about apps in the app store they would be facing hundreds of thousands of lawsuits.

This lengthy thread has a brief ‘me too’ statement regarding the problem punctuated with a tongue-in-cheek “well done Apple” marked as the solution.

Are there no moderators on this site who have the authority to ensure that posts marked as solutions are actually solutions (or at least plausible solutions that have a confirmation or two)?

FWIW, I don’t begrudge @86smopuiM for the comment - just wondering if this site could be more useful.

You raise a really good point, that we have discussed in the level 6+ lounge. The current forum software has no way to unmark a thread as Solved. The hosts can make another post Apple Recommended; they haven’t for this thread, but I will suggest it.

I’m sorry if I implied criticism for the previous post, it wasn’t my intention, just an observation; I know most people who post at the end of a long thread don’t read it, probably because a google search doesn’t make it obvious that there are multiple previous posts.

I am seriously getting tired of having to waste valuable time trying to fix issues on the Very expensive Iphone 13 Max Pro.

I thank all who have taken the time and effort to post their experiences here but seriously, why are we expected to live with such issues on a product in a price range where this should not occur.

The iPhone is a tool for me, something I use in my daily business and have (probably mistakenly) become dependent on the connectivity as I am a frequent international business traveller. Apple products used to be, not only innovative, but also reliable and robust. I see a trend developing and it’s not good. Prices increasing but quality and support decreasing. Honestly, If I were to apply the same strategy. I would be out of business. So how does Apple get away with this hi price, ignore the customer strategy? I guess it is because we all remember when the products used to work reliably for years on end.

I expect that this tolerance by the apple community will last a while, until many “Non Geeks” like me are fed up and realize that there are alternatives in the market.

I apologize for letting off steam here but I am clearly frustrated with the whole situation. Apple support is hiding behind such communities and the members have to guess if and when a solution will be available or have I missed something here?

As I mentioned before, I am not a Geek, the product is a tool for me and not a playground toy. I have invested a significant amount of money for a product that does not do what it should and what I need and that from the very start.

So what are the options offered?

  • find a local apple store ( the closest is nearly 120 km away (so much for being close to your customers)
  • Send in the phone to a repair centre (will take 7 to 10 days but how will I be reached by my customers in the meantime? Apple obviously does not think about business users or they would offer loaner or swap program)
  • Buy a second phone and send the Iphone back for a refund? (This option is becoming more attractive with every day I have to wait for a fix, if I am forced to do this, it will certainly not be an iphone)

What annoys me the most is apple’s silence, We are left to guess that they “may” be working on a solution, when can we expect a fix etc. or has anyone here received a clear statement?

Dear Community, please let me know if I am alone shouting in the desert, or if you are as frustrated and fed up as I am.

Thanks for reading.

I am having the same issue and it just started happening recently despite no other change. It's really upsetting to have such a luxury device that can't do the simplest thing required. I have tried Airplane mode (on/off/on), forgetting the network, rebooting phone, resetting all network connections, deleting my VPN (Surfshark-- Apple please work with Surfshark to make sure use is seamless), and playing with privacy location services too. Nothing has worked. There are 4 other apple devices connecting to teh wifi smoothly, so I know it is not the router. Lastly, my only other option is to totally reset my phone, but if it doesn't connect to wifi well, then how am I going to reboot it and download my phone from the cloud to set it up again!!! I can't chance it. APPLE PLEASE HELP IN SOME UPDATE OR SOMETHING!!! This is unreal for such a new and expensive phone!!!

I keep seeing this statement "why use VPN" but in my opinion it is a feeble attempt to cover the fact that Apple has a problem to support such apps that many professional users need, even more astonishing is that these issues do not exist with other phones / operating systems. I mentioned in an earlier post that the Iphone 13 max is a business tool for me (and I expect for many others) and not just an expensive toy. Therefore I expect it to work in such an environment and without such time consuming issues which cost me money.

Instead of limiting the choice of the user to use the apps of their choice apple should work on a solution to make them work.

Imagine a car manufacturer who offers a car with a totally new tire size, only available from that manufacturer with claims that it is your own fault if you want something else. There is a reason that that has not happened, customers would not accept such a limitation.

Time to wake up apple, the "apple acceptance bonus" will not last forever.
