I am stuck on "Software Update" page with no option to press update in the process of transferring data via iCloud

I am stuck on "Software Update" page with no option to press update in the process of transferring data via iCloud. Can't find any way around it even if I try doing a phone to phone transfer, the new iOS 15 still gets me stuck.

You have to download the software first it’s not a rare instance. I have gone through 3 new iPhones including brand new iPhone 13 just this month and they all require the software update. Which takes forever. What I do is set it up manually by bypassing all of the options to set it up, except putting in your iCloud info which it forces you to do, Get in the phone and download it, then once it is done I go to settings erase all content and then start over. Wish there was an option to decline or not download the software until you’re in the phone and choose to do it. It’s ridiculous

As I indicated, update the new phone first - i.e. set it up manually without restore or quick start which will update it.

Then restore the iCloud backup if that is the route you are going from, or if you are using quick start you will have to restore the new phone to factory again (Settings, general, Transfer or Reset, Erase all content and settings) and set it up again from Hello Screen selecting Quick Start.

This is in the rare situation where a new phone comes with an older version that the phone or backup you are restoring from.

Ridiculous, or rather inevitable.

If you buy a phone soon after an update your old phone will be on, say iOS15.2 where the new one is 15.1

You have no choice but to set the new one up manually then reset it and do the setup again.

We commonly suggest this as a remedy but normally the error message says "this backup requires 15.2"

This OP didn't feedback with thanks or come back for more help so who knows if my advice worked.

And Deedeeflan may well have a different problem and should start a new thread. No point in answering with any other advice after 2 months dead.
