I have the OS X El Capitan, the Software update Icon is not showing under System Preferences, where can I find the software updates?

If you're trying to upgrade the OS and your computer is recent enough, back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and click on High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur.


If you're trying to update bundled software or applications downloaded through the App Store, click on the Updates button in it.

If you're trying to update other applications, see if they have their own update system, or visit the creator's website.
