Safari adress bar bug when shifting night/day mode

Any one else noticing that the background color of the adress bar in safari wont change when IOS 15.01 shifting between night and day mode?

For example, when I shift to dark mode, the adress bar font color will shift to light grey instead of black, but the background color of the adress bar is still white, making it impossible to see what you write.

This is solved by restarting Safari, but of course it should not be nessecary?

This has been an issue since the intro of iOS 15 and the new Safari version. Killing the app (not just closing it) resolves the issue for the day but it comes back at night. Luckily killing an app on an iPhone, IPad or Mac is pretty easy otherwise it would be a massive pain. But I’m amazed that Apple’s QA process did not pick up this very obvious flaw on a feature that is widely used.

Go to settings then safari and uncheck “allow website tinting”

Try tapping the aA button and move search bar to bottom and back.

Guys, I did this once and it fixed it. Haven’t had issue again. So on address bar hit the aA symbol. Then move address bar to bottom. Then move it back to top. Walla it works. 15.2 on iphone 11.

Hey there yandax!

It sounds like you're having trouble with the URL bar in Safari while in Dark Mode.

Have you tried restarting the iPhone to see if that helps?

If so can you test after clearing Safari history? If you continue to run into issues after giving those steps a try, we would recommend reaching out Apple Support directly.

You can just force quit Safari, no need for restarting your phone.

However, it is so wierd that Apple hasn’t fixed this yet.

This happens to me, as well. Every night when my phone switches to night mode, the url font is impossible to read. I must kill Safari app and reopen. Once I do, the font is in the correct colors.

Same problem here - in Dark Mode the Safari address bar sometimes turns white on white, which is unreadable. Restarting Safari fixes the issue for a while.
