Watch showing sent and received messages as unread in bubble

Ever since I updated my phone to iOS 15 and watch to iOS 8 every time I send a text from my phone it shows as an unread notification on my watch…When I first did the update it showed 99+ unread even though all had been read on phone,so notification should have been cleared on watch….Just curious if anyone else is having this issue or if there is an update in the works to repair this obvious bug in the system post update

We understand that since you've updated your iOS and WatchOS, unread notifications appear on your Apple Watch when you send a message from your iPhone, correct?

Is your Apple Watch set to mirror your iPhone or have you set up custom notifications for your Apple Watch? You can learn more here: Notifications on your Apple Watch

Have you restarted both your Apple Watch and companion iPhone since you noticed this happening?

I’m having the same issue and it’s getting frustrating. I was hoping that the new update that came out last night would fix it but it didn’t. The last couple nights I’ve had to go through my watch and select messages. Mine is currently showing 6 new messages and they are all messages that I have sent. I hope this gets fixed soon

Yes that is correct watch is showing notifications for unread messages even when they are outgoing from my phone.

Yes watch is set to mirror my phone,I have no custom notification settings made,all settings are set as they come with phone and watch

And I have restarted both devices post update to see if that would rectify the issue but it still is happening…All that is effected is the notifications on watch but it’s a slight inconvenience not having anything unread but having it showing that there is multiple items unread

Issue Is still happening even after recent os updates and have restarted both devices and even tried unlinking and linking back up watch to phone…Any other things to try or do we just wait till another up in hopes it fixes the issue
