Apple TV 4K speed test is 30mbs and every other device is 400 mbs and all next to each other

Our Apple TV has degraded in speed dramatically, and I wouldn’t say overtime, but for a LONG time now. Let’s say you put 10 devices in the same room same area, but not all connected at the same time of course. We run speed test on every device (several iPhones, iPads, desktops, laptops, etc.) and they all get 400 mbps or around that. Then you try the Apple TV and it’s around 30 mbps. It’s stupid. Nothing will stream on it and it barely functions. Don’t give me any info about WiFi signal strength or getting a mesh router, cause we have done all that. WiFi strength is as high as it can go, and we have a mesh system. Remember, all devices are testing from the SAME initial starting point. So it’s 10000% the Apple TV, as no other device experiences this. But is it a software issue or hardware issue? Resetting the modem/router doesn’t work, deleted the devices from the router doesn’t work, forgetting the network on Apple TV and rejoining doesn’t work… so we are stuck. Is anyone else out there having this issue AND found a fix?

Other devices working doesn't rule out a network issue, and simply looking at device signal doesn't account for issues. In order to properly verify you need a diagnostic report. (istumbler, netstumbler or similar..to get overall network signal strength, and noise detection as well as nearby networks channel congestion etc). As above, resetting is another good step. If you are able to do that and still have the issue then you need to work with Apple support to run through some more tests.

Apologies, we should have been clear. We have also indeed done all of what the replies suggested so far before posing this:


We have done the following:


Unplug the modem from its power source for 2-3 minutes and restart.

Unplug the router from its power source for 2-3 minutes and restart.

Unplug the Apple TV from its power source for 2-3 minutes and restart and then retest


We have also reset all the factory settings. We are on the latest tvOS.


We have tested during various times of the day. We have removed all other devices from the network. We’ve told the modem to forget all connected devices but the TV, etc.


Looks like it’s time to call Apple. Our other Apple TV, a lower model, has no trouble whatsoever.
