Can I up grade a macOS Catalina to Big Sur OS?

I just bought a older MacBook Pro Catalina operating system just wanted to find out if I could upgrade the operating system to Big Sur or to a more up-to-date version

-------

Verifying Catalina Installation:

I. Find the Model of your Mac:

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: About this Mac
  3. View: Third Line-Down

II. See if it is mentioned here: macOS Catalina is Compatible with these Computers - Apple Support

If it is not mentioned in that link, then installing it is just not an option. :(

I used to enjoy using my Mac Book Pro which was purchased in early 2013. Then I got a message about an update to Big Sur.

Now I realize that I must purchase a new Mac Book Pro -- I applaud you for this brilliant marketing move to bump up the sales figures and price of Apple stock. I cannot use the Safari Browser for my most critical websites like banking and E-Trade. My computer is now essentially useless. So, I contacted Apple support about a trade-in for a new Mac Book. I didn't get an answer. I would like to know if there is a way to fix this problem. Can I use my old laptop with Catalina and just forget about Big Sur? Or must I buy a new laptop. I've got enough money to buy a new Mac Book Pro. Please contact me if there is a way to continue using my old laptop. I'm retired on a fixed income. Age 71. Thanks, Rock Southward -- 15" Mac Book Pro Retina (early 2013).
