Hardware Keyboard with Japanese Keyboard Layout

Hi,

I am using iPad 12.9 Pro Gen 5 (iPad iOS15) together with the Logicool Combo Touch Keyboard Case with Trackpad (https://store.apple.com/jp/xc/product/HPLX2J/A)

As I am living in Japan, the attached Logicool Hardware keyboard is in Japanese layout.

However I cannot type using that Japanese layout.

I’ve got lots of problems with typing the symbols.

For example, although I press the button @ as shown on the key board, I get a [ instead (which is the default in US keyboard layout).

Many other symbols are messed up.

This is a real trouble for me since I use lots of symbols in my daily typing.

I have tried to find out a way to let my iPad know that I am using Japanese layout but haven’t found any.

In the hardware keyboard setting, I can change the the hardware keyboard to “Kana” when I use Japanese input source, but what I want is the romanji input using Japanese keyboard layout.

Could anyone please give some help?

Thank you very much!

When you go to settings > general > keyboard > hardware keyboard, tap over at the right edge. What do you have checked? It should be "US" and not "automatic" or something else.

You want the @ next to P, right?

If it already is on US, try automatic or other options.

You might want to check Logicool support to see if there has been any problem with their keyboard being recognized as the JIS type by iOS devices.
