MBP mid 2015 only working in safe mode

Hi. I was handed down a nice MBP mid 2015. After performing an update to Big Sur, the Mac freezes at the login screen, I can’t use the keyboard nor the trackpad. The only way I could use the Mac is by going to safe mode which allows me to use the device “normally”. Both keyboard and trackpad are functioning in safe mode. I have performed the following operations to try to fix the issue:

NVRAM-PRAM reset: did not work

SMC reset: did not work

Fresh MacOS install: did not work (I had to finish configuration in safe mode)

Changed trackpad cable

Performed hardware diagnostics with command+D but it does not appear to find any hardware issues.

Does anyone have had this issue before? Thank you

I would follow the instructions here to set up your Mac as your own...and get beyond your current issue:

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac

If no resolve—

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
