iPhone 13 Pro Max micro scratch on screen

Hello,

I've got a random micro scratch on my iPhone 13 Pro Max screen and I've only had it for 3 weeks. I'm totally confused as to where it came from as the phone has always been by my bed side and I haven't actually taken it out or used it much yet.

Anyways I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to fix this? It's very odd.

The scratch is only visible when the screen is turned off and you tilt it at an angle; so you are unable to see it at all when the screen is awake.

See picture attached.

Kind regards,

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15

That's not unusual. Even though the glass is very strong, it is glass and glass can be scratched. I haven't owned an iPhone since iPhone 6 (and I've had many models since) without installing a good quality screen protector.

Apple even sells and installs them. They wouldn't do so if the glass was impossible to scratch. No one has yet invented glass which can't be scratched.

Apple won't do anything for you as cosmetic damage is not covered under warranty. To avoid future scratches, put a good screen protector on your phone. Go to your Apple Store, Best Buy Store or even Amazon.com and you'll find options from $6 to $50 depending on the quality you want. You spent big money on an expensive phone. Spending a few dollars more to protect the screen from scratches, only makes sense.

Aer you actually willing to pay $329 for a new screen? That is how much a new screen will cost you. Even if you added an AppleCare+ plan at the time of purchase, the screen would not qualify under the plan to be replaced over a micro-scratch on the screen.

You may be very surprised to see the scratch disappear under a screen protector. It's your money of course.

I also feel what you feel! It’s really bad when Apple claim the toughness and in the same time

their products become more fragile and can’t handle any drop and scratches easily!!

its just business they are looking for more $$$$

the more fragile they make it

the more $$$ they make with the apple care and trade it programs!

human never feel shame!

I never bought anything in my entire 45 years of life almost anything without having problem, scratch, broken, dent etc..

never… my wife said you are just been out of luck!

I bought brand new car and scratched next day in the parking lot!

but I learn something to making me claim down ..

remember that nothing will stay and we are leaving too and the moment you are sad about now you will Lough about tomorrow!

hope that help little

enjoy your days!

So I wake up this morning to a TON of replies about people super happy that they bought a screen protector that solved their scratch problem. One user that doesn’t think it’s a problem because it doesn’t affect functionality??!!! Seems suspect to me that people who paid 1300-1500 for a piece of technology are just peachy with this problem. Makes me wonder if apple may have people answering comments. I don’t like screen protectors. It’s not the same user experience as having a screen without one. I did not need one on my 8., which I had for yearsI DO on my 13, which I’ve had for a couple weeks. Poor quality. Not impressed.

Ok then explain to me why my iPhone 8 has NO scratches despite years of use, and the 13 has numerous scratches after a couple weeks. The strength of your response makes me think that you indeed are working with apple for damage control. There are a lot of reports and videos out showing that the 13 is particularly susceptible to scratches. Nice try though.

Yes. I have the same issue, and it's utterly ridiculous. I believe Apple lies about the materials used in its products. There’s no way that what they say about the Ceramic Shield screen can be true if scratches are appearing so quickly on multiple devices. In addition to the gash on my screen, the so-called “surgical-grade” stainless steel around the circumference of the phone became scratched when I attached my $50 Apple-designed case. I am livid.

Sure. But using Sapphire glass on an iPhone would be a disaster. Sapphire in small sizes, such as watch crystals is a great application. Using Sapphire in a large panel on an iPhone would not be a great application. Sapphire is harder to scratch for sure. But it is brittle and can you imagine the thousands and thousands and thousands of gruntled users whose Sapphire clad iPhone screens shattered? Can you also imagine the added cost of Sapphire to begin with, not to mention the replacement costs.

I'll happily pay a few dollars for a high quality screen protector for my iPhones. I don't want to pay a lot more money for an iPhone with a Sapphire screen, nor do I want to even think about how much money it would cost to replace when it shatters.

Same happened to me. I use to buy a screen protector immediately after buy an iPhone. However, this time I got an iPhone 13 pro max and having confidence that the screen was tough enough I didn’t get the cover . So, for my surprise, just 2 days after my purchase a fuc… little scratch appears on the screen. Really a very little scratch but enough big to annoy me.

I took the phone to the Genius Bar for it to be examined by a 25 year old kid who I am guessing is an engineer with glass manufacturing experience with a part time job working the Genius Bar. This expert examined my 3 day old phone and towed the company line with an answer that the fine cracks in all 4 corners was the result of it being scratched by an object that only knows how to scratch corners of the phone. What a waist of time that was.

These large companies know they have an issue and work their best at saving their bottom line. End of story.
