There is no option to send an unattended text message from iPhone without user interaction. This means either someone had physical access to your iPhone or other Apple device (if you do use any) where Text Messaging Forwarding is allowed on it to send that message, or your SIM Card/Carrier account has been compromised.

With other people having access to your iPhone or other Apple device, change the device's passcode and never share with others. If you think your Apple ID could be compromised, change the password and enabled two factor authentication (if it's not already on).

With later option, compromised SIM and/or Carrier account, you would need to contact your Mobile Carrier asap.

Change your Apple ID password

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID

Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Hello Raybine,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand your concern with your iPhone sending a message by itself, and we'd be happy to look into this with you.

Did it only happened once? Did it happen with any other contacts? Could it be a message you sent earlier and it was delayed due to network issues? Does it seem like an old message that got resent again?

Were your boyfriend calling you at that time, and you accidentally pressed "reply with message"?

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

This text message was a text that my boyfriend sent to me months ago, i recognize it, is it possible for my iphone to have sent it back to his Android? I was at the playground with kids and my iphone was in my waistband when it happened however i have my iphone on autolock all the time.

its very strange, but the text started with the word questioned then the original text wording was in quotations which were not in original text that was sent to me from his Android originally.

this was the first time this has happened and I hope the last.
