iPhone users cannot connect to the AA inflight entertainment?

Something has changed over the last year. I have always been able to connect and watch movies using either the American Airlines (AA) app or via safari. I heard other iPhone users on my flights over the last few days saying that they cannot connect to the AA inflight entertainment, and now it has happening to me.

Androids are not having this issue and I believe it is an iOS issue because the guy sitting next to me was able to connect through his Macbook, but couldn’t connect using either his iPhone or iPad. He and I have the same phone.

I tried several different ways (going through safari, using the AA APP, shutting down and restarting and a hard reboot) trying to get the AA inflight movies to play on my iPhone (12 max pro w iOS 15.0.1), but nothing is working.

When connecting through the AA APP I get a message stating connection was lost (image attached), but I can see the Wi-Fi is connected.

I tried going through safari using: aainflight.com and I am able to maintain Wi-Fi connection however, I get through the AA ads, select a movie and the selected movie appears to start with the initial screen that states “we are please to present…” (image attached), the the next screen goes to a blank screen with the movie time at the bottom (image attached) with the spinning wheel of death, but the movie never starts.

What is going on?

I had this issue... Let see if I remember what I did, for sure I turned off auto-join.,

Can you post a screenshot of the AA flight settings, there was something else I did to be able to connect to their wifi.
