Apple TV will not delete played podcasts.

I have an Apple TV HD model A1625 (32 GB) running 15.0. It will not delete played podcasts even though it is set to do that. In fact it is impossible to manually delete podcasts. Holding down the pad on a selected podcast brings up a menu, but delete in not an option there. Some years ago the auto delete worked, but no more. I am collecting hundreds of podcasts that I no longer need and can’t get rid of them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand you are unable to delete podcast episodes from your Apple TV.

Are these episodes you've listened to in their entirety, partially, or not at all?

Do you sync your podcasts with your iPhone or iPad?

To delete unplayed episodes:

"In the Podcasts app on Apple TV, navigate to Listen Now or Library, navigate to an individual episode, press and hold the clickpad center (second-generation Siri Remote) or touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote), then select Delete."
