Port on Magic Keyboard Not Working

Right around the time that I updated my 2018 iPad Pro to iPadOS 15, I noticed that when connected to a magic keyboard, my iPad no longer charges when the power cable is connected via the USB-C port on the bottom of the keyboard (not the iPad itself). Different peripherals also don’t seem to be recognized by my docked iPad when connected through this port.

Is this a known iPadOS 15 issue? I’ve tried restarting my iPad several times, and neither the 15.0.1 or the recent 15.0.2 updates seem to fix the problem.

Edit: The keyboard itself (both the keys and the trackpad) work just fine when my iPad is connected.

Be aware that the USB-C port of the Magic Keyboard for iPad is only used for charging the iPad; other USB peripherals cannot by used with this port.

Hello skipyp,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with charging your iPad when connecting it to the port on your Magic Keyboard. First, check the port for signs of dirt or debris as this can cause charging issues: How to clean your Apple products

If the behavior continues, take a look at the steps under "Charge your iPad" for some great information and a link on what to do if your iPad doesn't charge: Set up and use Magic Keyboard for iPad

Let us know how it goes.

Take care.
