dowinloading live photos

How do I get out of the live function when trying to download photos from iphone 8 to computer?

They all show up as videos that don't open.

If you install Photos for Windows app they should be exportable as jpg.

If you don't have 100% Apple setup you ought to turn off Live in the camera and tell phone settings to preserve the camera settings by turning Live ON in there.

Turn off HEIC and use jpg instead (Most Compatible in Camera Settings, Formats)

Once shots are taken in HEIC. or Live you can only undo it on a computer in Photos app.

I went over to the Apple store and a fellow showed me how to turn off Live on the photos. So I came home and turned it off individually on all 137 pictures. Then I downloaded but they all came out with the HEIC extension. So I spent about an hour going through and individually changing each one to a jpg. However, the bottom 1/3 of each picture has a large grey border.

When I just forward one photo to my email, they look fine. I don't understand apps and settings and just wish this had never happened.

Where would I install Photos for Windows app, that you mentioned? From my phone or on my PC?

I guess I could just send each one to my email and then download. Probably a few more hours. Wish I had never had Live put on the phone; had no idea of the waste of time.

Thanks.
