There are issues with update of some iPad models to iPadOS 15.0.1/15.0.2.

For affected WiFi+Cellular models of iPad, such as yours, many are reporting that removal of the SIM tray from the iPad will allow the verification and installation process to compete. Other reports suggest that installing a SIM card (whether actove or not) also permits the update process to complete.

You may need to restart the update process, but removing the SIM tray from the iPad is simple and costs nothing to try.

Hello TC_2021,

It sounds as though you’re having issues updating iPadOS on your iPad Pro (2nd generation). Apple Support Communities is a wonderful place for help!

As you’ve seen in the related article iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 are compatible with these devices, your iPad is compatible with the latest iPadOS 15 versions. If you’re having issues updating you try the steps outlined in the following article.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t update

If you continue to have issues after those steps please let us know, along with a detailed explanation of what’s happening when trying to update.

We look forward to your response!

Looking for addtitional help.

  1. from Ipad - hangs up at the verification phase with the notification that it can not verify -- have tried 2 different networks with same result. Both times deleting updates for a redownload.
  2. From computer and Itunes -- runs smooth but get the (4000) error. Alos tried from 2 networks.
  3. Ipad - does not have a sim card. but did remove the holder
  4. REset ipad and the above did not work.

I tried everything listed here (more than once) except for updating through my computer. I’ve been using the iPad Pro as my only computer, I don’t have another computer at present.

When I got awake this morning the iPad Pro was trying to auto- install the update. It was stuck on “verifying update for hours. I had to turn it off and restart.

what’s next, a call to Apple support?
