Software update blocking instant transfer on apple pay

Recently I've tried transfering funds sent to me through apple cash to my debit card on file, but it keeps blocking the transaction and saying "software update required". This is despite the fact that I took 45 minutes to update the software to IOS 15 like the pop-message said and I am still having the same issue. Please help?

Hey Y’all;

So, I posted above that originally I did do the ios15 upgrade, from ios 14.8, and it still would not allow me to use the Instant Transfer function from Apple Cash to my bank ( I still got the error message abt “ Instant Transfer requires ios 15 or later”).

After dl’ing & installing ios 15, which btw took about 4 hours to do because I did it over a slower wifi, I had no joy, & got the same error msg.

Then, I found out that I got ios 15.0.1, & that Apple had literallyjust that day released a patch in the form of ios 15.0.2 that I didnt get on the first upgrade.

Even though I was now running 15 and per the error msg, it should work…. but didnt.

I then downloaded & installed the newest latest greatest (ios 15.0.2) AAAAANNNND….

YES!!! It works fine now! All the hassle & frustration so worth it because I was able to transfer that huge, ginormous $75!!!

lol

But, bottom line Yes, it does work so long as you get the very latest version of the ios.

You may, like I had to, dl & install the 15, then go back and re-run the “check for update” function for it to recognize the 15.0.2, as a Poster mentions above.

And BTW; I typically wait whenever there’s a major ios update until they work out the inevitable glitches, but at least so far, I have found 15 to be not that much different than 14, and it has some so-called “improvements” that to me actually do seem like improvements!

Oh yes, as the Poster above mentions definitely back up before updating. It will delete your Apple Pay & Cash settings and links, so I had to re-enter my info.

Good Luck!

Go to Settings/General/Software Update,.

There should then be an option to update to ios 15.0.2

It’ll take like 45 min, depending on your wifi connection speed…

Be sure to back up everything FIRST!

  1. Go to Settings  > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
  2. Turn on iCloud Backup.
  3. iCloud automatically backs up your iPhone daily when iPhone is connected to power, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi.

When you come back up after ios 15.0.2 is loaded on your device, your APPLE Cash/Pay info may say it needs to be set up. ( as if you didnt have any money in ithe wallet- don’t freak: you just need to log in with your APPLE ID and it will load it back in.

hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for contacting Apple Community.

I believe that there is IOS 15 update IOS15.0.1 and IOS 15.0.2

If you back up your phone and try to do another update it may take care of the glitches.

BUT PLEASE BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE DOWNLOADING YOUR UPDATES.

I hope this fixes your issues, please let me know if you need further assistance.
