Photos app taking 13gb of storage with no photos in it

Hello

I have a new iPhone 13 Pro Max. Coming over from Android a few years back, I only use Google Photos as my photos app. I've never used the Apple Photos app.

I have ZERO photos in Apple Photos app and I don't even use iCloud to back up pictures. Apple photos is showing I have 13gb of storage being used. I can't figure this one out as this is a first.

I've rebooted the phone and all that good stuff and it still shows this amount of storage being taken up.

Any ideas?

Hi JimKnuckles,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you don't have any photos in the Apple Photos app, but it's showing you have 13 GB of storage being used by it, and we'd like to assist. Just to clarify, are you looking in Settings > General > iPhone Storage? Or Settings > Your Name > iCloud? If you're looking in iCloud, is it possible you had photos in iCloud from the last time you had an Apple device? You can double-check by going to the iCloud website and logging in here: iCloud

We look forward to learning more about your issue.

Take care.
