texts are going to old iphone 8 and not new iphone 12
I can text from my new iphone 12 but replies come to my old iphone 8

Did you get the 12 to replace the 8?
Go into Settings
Scroll down and open Messages
Verify that iMessage is on
Verify that your 12 phone number is listed in the Send & Receive option
Check Text Message Forwarding
If you no longer want to receive messages on your 8, go into Settings and turn the iMessage option off.
