Phone overheating while wireless charging

Yesterday I had my brand new 12 mini propped on a wireless charger while I was on zoom on it. It shut down from overheating. Thoughts? Too much time on the charger (less than an hour) or combination of charging and zooming?

Hi Engund,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with your iPhone that shut down while on a Zoom call and Wirelessly charging.

Did you see a temperature alert: Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures?

Also see: How to wirelessly charge your iPhone

"Your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location."

Try doing either Zoom or wireless charging separately and see if the same issue occurs.

Have a fantastic day!
