Restoring calendars from Time Machine

Please can someone advise me how to restore my calendars from Time Machine? I’ve found instructions online and they seem to be out of date / don’t describe what I’m looking at on my screen. (MacBook 10.13.6)

Thank you!

Hi Stu,

In the finder negotiate to...

~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal

Then use the Enter Time Machine.

~ tilde indicates  your home folder

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

  1. From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.
  2. In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

Hi BDAqua,

Thanks for your help.

I went to ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal…

Then entered Time Machine

Then chose last Sunday’s back-up (the day before the accident with iCloud).

It asked me if I wanted to "replace" or "keep both", so I "kept both"…

After that, I went to ~/Library via the Go To folder…

Now I have “Calendar Cache-wal” as well as “Calendar Cache-wal (original)”.

But I’m not sure what I do next.

I would appreciate some clarification. Thanks so much!

Hi, thanks, but I’m still confused.

So, you mean:

(1) ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal

(2) Then use the Enter Time Machine.

(3) The “restore”

(4) Restart computer?

(5) From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder ?

(6) In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go. ?

(7) And then…?????

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Thanks, BDAqua, but I’m still confused.

I've tried the following:

(1) Quit Calendar

(2) From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder

(3) In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go

(4) Open the Calendars folder

(5) Highlight: Calendar Cache-wal

(6) Enter Time Machine

(7) “Restore” Calendar Cache-wal

(8) Restart computer

I can’t get beyond this stage.

In Calendar, I’ve tried to “File” > “Import”, but Calendar Cache-wal is greyscale (cannot click on it).

Please can anyone advise me how to import the Calendar Cache-wal file?
