Photos in Messages on iOS don't appear on macOS

Any ideas?

If someone sends me a photo, it appears in chat thread on iPhone/iPad BUT not on macOS which is REALLY annoying.

Any ideas please anyone? (iOS 15 and Big Sur btw)

mac98aop,

Thanks for clarifying. We understand that the photos do show up in Messages, but they appear as a blank square. Check to see if this behavior occurs with one specific contact or whether it occurs with other threads. Go to Messages.

Go to the menu bar and chose Messages > Preferences. iMessage tab and check that your phone number is checked.

Regards.

mac98aop,

Please clarify with additional details if we have not understood the circumstances of what you're experiencing. You can restart your Mac to safe mode where startup items and extensions are limited while a health check is performed on the startup disk. Check out How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Additional, how much available storage do you have on your hard drive? You can find this and manage storage using the guidance found in Free up storage space on your Mac.

Regards.
