I’m just not understanding how iCloud works. I have 100gig worth of pics and videos and want to keep them. Is iCloud the best option?

Ideally you use a combination of approaches. Sync the photos to your computer, back up the computer, and potentially add iCloud into the mix too. iCloud is primarily a sync service to keep all of your devices in sync, so anything that you do on one is reflected on all (eg. if you delete a picture from your phone, it deletes from your iPad too). iCloud also allows you to optimize photo storage on device so that you 100 GB library in the cloud may be 10 GB on your phone.
If you cancel, you go back to the free level (5 GB). Anything above that storage amount is deleted.

So let’s say my phone has 100 gig of photos and vids right now. I purchase the 200 gig a month option. Then the next month I cancel. Then turn it on again. Do I keep all these pics and vids?
