Clone HDD to SSD (MacOS+BootCamp+Windows 10)

Hello,

I would like to make an exact clone of my internal 1TB HDD to a 1TB SSD. I am doing this to replace my internal HDD. Once my HDD is cloned to the new SSD, I want to install the SSD and reboot the computer.

My imac 2012 (late) is running Catalina and Window 10 via Bootcamp.

I did some research and it appears Clonezilla may be able to make a clone of the entire disk in one shot. Does anyone have experience with this?

Does my new SSD need to be formatted before making a clone, or does cloning take care of the formatting in the process?

Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

First, DO NOT replace the internal drive! Rather, use an external SSD as your startup disk, such as a G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile SSD R-Series Storage - Apple.

Assuming your macOS volume is in good shape (NO Cleaners, Anti-Virus, etc.), you can use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to clone to the external SSD. To clone, your external SSD must be formatted with the GUID Partition Map and using APFS.

I am not sure how one would clone a Windows partition with Bootcamp.
