how to renew certificates expired on 2011 iMac OS X Yosemite

I am getting a error message for expired certificates. How to renew? net::err_cert_date_invalid

I am getting this error and it's not my browser.

It's an expired security certificate in older operating systems. Options:

FireFox uses it4s own certificate and should work, but with 10.10 you will have to use the older 'Extended Release' version: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/enterprise/

Upgrading to Sierra 10.12 of higher may work: see https://support.apple.com/HT211683 or try rebooting while holding option-command-R for internet Recovery with, hopefully, the highest OS your Mac can handle. (Be aware that Catalina upwards won't run 32-bit applications).

You could try installing an updated certificate, but I emphasize that I haven't tried it and don't know whether it's effective or even advisable:

  • Download the ISRG Root X1 certificate file from http://x1.i.lencr.org/
  • Open the Keychain Access app and drag that file into the System folder of that app.
  • Find the ISRG Root X1 certificate in System and double click on it, open the Trust menu and change "Use System Defaults" to "Always Trust", then close that and enter your password to confirm the change (if prompted).

Let's Encrypt DST Root CA X3 expiry Sept 30th 2021 | Certify The Web Docs

In the second line they presumably mean the 'System'>'Certificates' section of Keychain access.
