Whole screen, text and mouse blurry

Hi,

The screen on my MacBook air (mid-2013) is blurry and the text is difficult to read. The mouse is also trailing with a blur. At the moment I have it attached to an external monitor and it is fine. I have tried all the suggestions online, but none have seemed to have worked. I am starting to think it may have something to do with the hardware.

Do you have any suggestions as to what the problem maybe?
