Hostgator is not accepting the CNAME record field data

When inputting the CNAME record example.com. is automatically appended to the field for name/host "sig1._domainkey." and a record data an error is indicated for "sig1.dkim.[example.com].at.icloudmailadmin.com." and the "Add Record" button is greyed out.

Any suggestions?

Typical user error. Do not include the "[ ]" when entering your domain.

sig1.dkim.[example.com].at.icloudmailadmin.com.

Maybe this will be of help to someone.
